Performance Pressure and Compliance Risk
About Course
Performance pressure is a normal part of organisational life. Targets, deadlines, customer expectations, regulatory obligations, commercial priorities, and resource constraints all influence how work is performed. Pressure is not automatically harmful; in many cases, it helps teams focus, prioritise, and deliver. However, when pressure is poorly managed, it can weaken judgement, distort behaviour, and create serious compliance risk.
This course is designed for employees, managers, team leaders, compliance officers, risk professionals, quality assurance teams, internal audit functions, HR and people teams, and senior leaders who are responsible for managing performance, conduct, controls, customer outcomes, or regulatory obligations. It is particularly relevant for organisations operating in regulated or high-accountability environments where pressure to meet targets must be balanced with sound judgement, accurate records, effective escalation, and responsible decision-making.
The course explores the relationship between performance pressure and compliance risk. It examines how pressure affects individual decision-making, team behaviour, operational controls, leadership practices, governance oversight, and organisational culture. Learners will consider how everyday workplace pressures can lead to shortcuts, delayed escalation, weak records, informal workarounds, suppressed concerns, and control failures.
The course is designed to help learners recognise early warning signs before they become incidents. It also provides practical tools for responding to pressure risk, protecting key decision points, addressing root causes, and building sustainable routines that support responsible performance over time.
By the end of the course, learners should understand that responsible performance is not about avoiding pressure altogether. It is about achieving business objectives in a way that remains controlled, evidenced, fair, transparent, and defensible. The central question throughout the course is: what is pressure making us more likely to ignore, delay, soften, or bypass?
